Breaking Data Elitism in the Arab Region: The Role of the Arab Development Portal

Experts discuss the role of the Arab Development Portal in facilitating the access to credible and official up-to-date data for key development topics in the Arab region.

The Department of Economics at AKSOB in collaboration with the Arab Development Portal (ADP) held a presentation on the 29th of November, 2017 entitled “Breaking Data Elitism in the Arab Region: The Role of the Arab Development Portal”.

Mrs. Farah Choucair, Project Manager and Technical specialist at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, who was the Key Note Speaker of the event, talked about the Arab Development Portal (ADP) which was launched on the 25th of April, 2016 and is considered as a bilingual data warehouse and knowledge platform that offers timely and high quality data and knowledge on key development topics in the Arab region. Two of our Outstanding Economics Faculty, Dr. Walid Marrouch, and Dr. Ali Fakih were capable of developing the energy page for the Arab Development Portal, including the choice of energy indicators for the Arab region, relevant data sources, and related policy orientated literature.
