Dr. Marwan Barakat
Dr. Marwan Barakat is a member of the Group Executive Committee of Bank Audi, where he contributes to the bank’s strategic planning, business development, investment policies and oversight of subsidiaries. He also serves as Group Chief Economist and Head of Research, leading the bank’s Research Department since the mid-1990s. Under his leadership, the department has produced widely recognized economic, sectoral and market reports covering Lebanon, the Middle East and North Africa.Since 2019, Dr. Barakat has served as Head of the Studies Committee at the Association of Banks in Lebanon.
Dr. Barakat earned his BBA and MBA from the American University of Beirut and a PhD in Economics from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. He has held teaching positions at the Lebanese American University and the American University of Beirut, and has lectured at conferences and seminars across Lebanon, the Middle East and North Africa, Europe and the United States.
