Ms. Rania Al-Jazairi
Ms. Rania Al Jazairi is a First Social Affairs Officer working for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia since 2004.
She has over 15 years of experience in gender, human rights and socio-economic issues.
She worked directly with governments, regional and International organizations on humanitarian law, public policy, civil society and governance, institutional development, social-justice, youth empowerment, poverty eradication, and socio-economic development. She also managed several projects and published many reports, papers and publications at the UN, as well as at peer-reviewed academic journals, mainly on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women in the Arab Region (CEDAW), violence against women, social justice, and transitional justice and refugees.
Ms. Al Jazairi is a certified investigator who chaired several fact-finding panels investigating cases of misconduct including, fraud, financial fraud, harassment, discrimination and abuse of authority in the UN system.
She was selected by the Lebanese Prime Minister and appointed through presidential decree to the membership of the board of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, whereby she gets to contribute directly to policy making on women’s issues.
Ms. Al Jazairi holds a BA and an MA in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University. At graduation, she received the prestigious President Award for the highest GPA (4.00) at the School of Arts and Sciences. She was also a Visiting Fellow at Yale University, USA in 2014.
