Trust in Lebanon’s public institutions: a challenge for the new leadership
In a new ERF blog post, Dr. Walid Marrouch , professor of economics and assistant dean of graduate studies and research at LAU, co-authors with Professors of Economics at the University of Ottawa, Paul Makdissi and Myra Yazbeck to examine public trust or lack of in both civilian and military public institutions in Lebanon over the past decade. The authors document evidence that public confidence in the governance of civil institutions continues to erode, while the army remains a resilient and trusted institution; this is an unprecedented divide in institutional trust.
