Institute for Banking & Finance

In 1997, the Institute for Banking and Finance (IBAF) at Adnan Kassar School of Business was established to provide top-notch training seminars to employees of banks and corporations in Lebanon and the Middle East.  LAU was the first and only institution of higher education in Lebanon to establish such an institute at the time.

IBAF was inaugurated in summer 1997 and the inauguration guest speaker was Dr. Douglas Peters who was at that time a Liberal Member of Parliament for Scarborough East (a suburb of Toronto) and the Secretary of State for International Financial Institutions in the Prime Minister Jean Chrétien’s cabinet.
