Minor in Data Analytics

This minor is offered by the Department of Information Technology and Operations Management.

Why Minor in Data Analytics?

The mission of the Minor in Data Analytics is to provide a quality education in the field that combines theory and practice for undergraduate students equipping them with the blend of skills necessary to engage in data-driven decision making and allowing them to enter the work force – as an employee or a self-employed person – or pursue graduate studies.

In addition to ensuring academic excellence, student centeredness, and civic engagement through a mix of lab, classroom, and hands-on pedagogy, the Minor in Data Analytics has been carefully designed to endow students with the skills to mine the ever-growing mountains of data while also gaining employment in a diverse world.

The Minor in Data Analytics will provide students with a sufficient toolbox of methodologies to identify, select, deploy, validate, and communicate ethically appropriate solutions to analytics problems, in addition to the skills to extract and formulate problems addressable by analytics and the design thinking and programming skills necessary to deal with different stages of data analytics.

The minor will be open to all undergraduate students and includes electives from across the university – from Data and Society within the Journalism program to Healthcare Analytics in the domain of medicine and pharmacy.
