Launching The Beirut Economics Research Seminar Series
September 10, 2025, marked the kickoff of the Beirut Economics Research Seminar Series, organized in collaboration with the American University of Beirut. The event featured Dr. Walid Marrouch, professor of economics and associate dean of Graduate Studies and Research at LAU, who presented his paper “Emissions Taxes and Market Power: Linked vs. Unlinked Market Failures” at the Adnan Kassar School of Business, LAU Beirut campus. The talk examined one- and two-sided abatement and their policy implications, highlighting how bridging market failures in pollution and power can inform tax design for sustainable outcomes.
