Message from the Chairperson

Welcome to the Department of Finance and Accounting   

Finance and accounting provide the foundation for understanding how organizations allocate resources, assess performance and make strategic business decisions. Finance focuses on investment decisions, financing choices, risk analysis and management, capital markets, and the entities and instruments that enable market operation. Accounting ensures the integrity and transparency of financial reporting while maintaining compliance with professional standards and regulations.

The Department of Finance and Accounting is committed to delivering professional education that prepares students for a competitive and rapidly changing global business environment. Our mission is to achieve regional leadership through innovative education in finance and accounting, impactful research and strong partnerships with industry. We integratetheory, practice and ethics to equip students with the knowledge, technical expertise and professional conduct needed to succeed as future leaders locally and globally. Experiential learning is embedded in our programs through case studies, real-world projects, internships and industry collaborations that bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice.

Our graduates have built successful careers in both finance and accounting, with many advancing to leadership roles at top firms. Career paths include corporate finance, banking, investment management, auditing, taxation and advisory services. Others have pursued graduate study and established strong academic careers. The department’s faculty members combine academic excellence with industry expertise. Our full-time faculty publish in highly ranked finance and accounting journals, while our part-time faculty bring extensive leadership experience from the Lebanese financial sector and multinational accounting and consulting firms.

The department offers programs in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting. The finance program prepares students for careers in commercial and investment banking, financial management, as well as asset and debt management. Electives cover specialized areas such as Islamic banking, insurance, fintech, entrepreneurial personal finance, machine learning and blockchain applications, and sustainable finance. The accounting program prepares students for careers in auditing, taxation, financial reporting, forensic accounting, internal auditing and information systems auditing. Graduates are equipped with the competencies required for professional positions in leading international organizations. In collaboration with the Institute of Internal Auditors, accounting majors who meet specific coursework and examination requirements may also earn a certificate through the Internal Audit Education Partnership program.
