Message from the Chairperson
Welcome to the Department of Information Technology and Operations Management

Data and information are the lifeblood of modern organizations: they drive strategy, enable efficiency and inspire innovation. At the Department of Information Technology and Operations Management (ITOM), we focus on how information is transformed into intelligent action. Our mission is to prepare professionals who understand not just technology, but how to use it strategically to improve business performance, optimize operations and create sustainable value.
The world we prepare our students for moves fast, demands intelligence and rewards adaptability. Our approach reflects this reality. Whether in the classroom, lab or industry setting, ITOM students learn to identify patterns in data, orchestrate efficient operations and lead digital initiatives with both precision and purpose.
Our portfolio of programs builds bridges between business and technology. The newly launched Master of Science in Data Analytics (MSDA) is a bold step forward—designed to shape data-savvy leaders who can translate analytics into innovation, sustainability and competitive advantage. At the undergraduate level, our Minor in Data Analytics provides students from all disciplines with the analytical foundation and applied tools needed to turn data into insight—and insight into impact. Together, these offerings strengthen LAU’s position as a regional leader in digital education.
Artificial intelligence is another frontier we are intentionally shaping. We view AI not as a replacement for human potential but as a means to enhance it: a partner in discovery, insight and creativity.
Behind this vision is a community of dedicated faculty—scholars, practitioners and mentors—who bring the pulse of industry and the depth of research into every course. They cultivate learning experiences that are hands-on, human-centered and grounded in real-world impact. Our classrooms use SPSS, Power BI, SAP S/4HANA, Tableau, Dreamweaver and Python, but more importantly, they foster analytical thinking, collaboration and ethical awareness.
Our graduates leave ready to design systems, manage transformations and lead with insight—whether in analytics, consulting, technology management or operations. Their achievements across Lebanon, the Gulf and beyond continue to elevate the ITOM name and reaffirm our commitment to excellence.
We invite you to explore our major and discover how it can empower you to connect technology with strategy and build a meaningful, future-ready career.
